POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor – College Readiness, the College Readiness Specialist will support the activities of the Office of College Readiness as a liaison between the high schools and colleges and universities. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing the district’s college readiness program to include dual enrollment and college access programs.  The College Readiness Specialist will coordinate, manage and implement strategies that increase student participation in post-secondary education.  

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Collaborates with the Instructional Supervisor – College Readiness to develop, implement, and oversee the district’s college readiness program;

Identifies, plans and implements all program components to meet College Readiness goals;

Manages and maintains ongoing relationships between colleges and PGCPS high schools;

Manages community partnerships as they relate to the College Readiness programs;

Assists with the implementation of the PGCPS dual enrollment program;

Coordinates and integrates initiatives that promote and enhance student services;

Implements and manages accountability of program standards and measures;

Coordinates, manages and implements yearly calendar of activities and events;

Monitors program progress;

Implements college fairs and guest speakers;

Identifies PSAT, SAT and Accuplacer preparation opportunities and facilitates students participation in the preparation;

Maintains records of attendance and participation in all program events and activities;

Assists the schools in the dissemination of information to students and families;

Ensures alignment for mentoring, tutoring and counseling services at schools where needed;

Plans and implements a college counseling program for parents;

Creates a coherent vision for the multiple student support programs;

Provides leadership in the planning, monitoring and use of effective best practices in increasing student college matriculation rates;

Ensures compliance with any grant and externally supported college readiness programs;

Works with appropriate PGCPS offices and departments to develop a tracking system to document the number of programs offered and students served;

Collects, analyzes and distributes data to principals around program supports;

Conducts program evaluations to determine the success of college readiness programs;

Shares program options with principals;

Submits reports as required; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge of college preparedness, admissions, and registration procedures, familiarity with FAFSA website and Financial Aid processes;

Knowledge of program management;

Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills;

Ability to keep abreast of new guidelines, emerging trends and best practices related to college preparedness and support programs;

Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills;

Knowledge of electronic data collection;

Ability to work with diverse populations;

Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction in field of specialization;

Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process;

Ability to provide communication that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education;

Ability to utilize technology;·         Knowledge of college preparedness, admissions, and registration procedures, familiarity with FAFSA website and Financial Aid processes;

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree preferred in education, business administration, counseling or a related field.
