POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety and Security Assistant is
responsible for maintaining a safe, professional and customer service
orientated environment in greeting and receiving visitors at their designated
location.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Advising the Principal/Administrator of
any potential hazards within the school or grounds;
Detecting fire and safety hazards;
Assisting the Safety & Security Counselor
with the parking permit system;
Detecting weaknesses in building
security such as faulty locks, broken windows and inadequate lighting;
Maintaining a high visibility posture
within the school and/or school property to discourage illegal or disruptive
acts from occurring;
Assisting Principals in developing
programs that will reduce the levels of vulnerability to criminal acts;
Assisting with security functions during
extra-curricular activities;
Assist with visitor management; and
Performs other general office and related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge of common methods and
practices used by school systems in creating a safe environment;
Knowledge of applicable laws;
Knowledge of basic computer operating
systems, email and calendars;
Excellent communication skills;
Sound judgment
and logicalreasoning
with a keen sense of observation and memory;
Ability to assist in investigations and
follow them through to logical conclusions; and
Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s
license.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation
from high school and two (2) years of work
experience beyond high school, preferably in a security field.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
None Required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
