POSITION SUMMARY:
Under
general supervision, has responsibility for work performed by Shop Stores
Clerks assigned to an automotive issue point as well as performing manual and
clerical work as required.
The
incumbent of this position is located at an automotive issue point containing a
wide variety of repair parts and related supplies and is directly responsible for the
receipt, storage and issuance of automotive repair parts and related supplies,
and oversees the day-to-day activity of employees assigned to the issue
point. The work involves not only the
same duties assigned and performed by Shop Stores Clerks, but the additional
responsibility for the efficient operation and security of the site to which
assigned. These duties are performed in
accordance with the established policies and procedures.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Overseeing
the work of employees assigned to the site; keeps storage areas and stock
contained therein in a clean, orderly and serviceable condition;
Insuring
that work orders for structural maintenance of the site are issued in a timely
fashion;
Receiving
repair parts and related items, checks against appropriate documents for
correctness, reports any discrepancies in physical count or noted damage and
storing in proper location in accordance with the established methods;
Rearranging
stock as necessary to accommodate changing needs and requirements and
participating in periodic or special inventories;
Safeguarding
against loss, damage or theft;
Filling
orders by selecting and assembling designated items from stock, checking orders
for delivery to consignees, loads and unloads delivery vehicles and performs
other manual tasks as may be required;
Placing
orders with contracted vendors for non-stocked repair parts and/or services;
Initiating stock transfers between issue points as required to avoid
stock-outs;
Maintaining
item control i.e., receipt, issue and order placement, by terminal input;
Reviewing
validity of stock levels based on usage experience and adjusts accordingly,
maintaining appropriate files; and
Performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Good knowledge of stockroom methods and practices;
Ability to count and check parts;
Ability to carry out both written and oral instructions;
Ability to operate office machines including personal
computers;
Ability to train, give directions and supervise the work
of others; and
Ability
to maintain good working relationships with vendors and supplier.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Automotive or maintenance stockroom experience, including
clerical work, use of reference publications, and completion of a standard high
school course; or any combination of experience and training which provides the
required knowledge, skills and abilities.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Possession
of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with a
driving record indicating five (5) or fewer points, of which no more than three
(3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring
while operating a Board of Education vehicle (see Prince George’s County Public
Schools Bulletin P-1-88 dated July 21,
1987).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees
the work performed by Shop Stores Clerks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing duties of this job, the employee must have the strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks including the ability to climb a 40' vertical ladder, work from scaffolding and a bucket truck, the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 80 lbs., work in cramped interior spaces, and the ability to do extensive walking, bending, stooping, crawling and kneeling in the course of completing daily work assignments. The employee is required to maintain sustained physical effort and some exposure to dust, dirt, chemical solutions, solvents, odors, and adverse weather conditions.
