POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the direction of the IT Project Manager, the Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for organizational change management during the implementation of the new Student Information System (SIS).Following project completion, the Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for organizing work schedules, assigning tasks, and evaluating projects assigned to the Office of Technology Applications, Student Support.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Analyzing and documenting business processes and business rules;

Designing, building, and implementing customizations, extensions, and enhancements to SIS application programs and reports according to software standards and conventions;

Implementing changes to existing systems caused by statutory changes or new ideas submitted by users;

Supporting interfaces to external information system as required;

Leading application development including design, coding, documentation, testing, and support;

Organizing work schedules, assigning tasks, and evaluating, coordinating and prioritizing projects;

Coordinating services that are aligned to the requirements of both schools and central offices;

Assisting with and/or conducting training programs for analysts/developers, consultants and users; and

Documenting all procedures used in reports and customizations.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Mastery of Java and XML programming and related Web technologies required. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL in AIX/UNIX environment a plus;

Thorough knowledge of software development practices, business and administrative management systems, and complex systems analysis;

Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL in AIX/UNIX environment a plus;

Demonstrated knowledge of RDBMS;

Ability to work cooperatively as a team;

Ability to interact well with functional area staff;

Ability to effectively communicate technical information in a non-technical manner, both orally and in writing;

Effective management skills; and

Effective interpersonal and communication skills. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Information Systems or related field;

A minimum of five (5) years successful employment as a Java programmer/software developer, or a combination of applicable training and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position.
