POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of
the Coordinating Supervisor of Online Programs, the Success Coach Assistant
will be responsible for supporting cohorts of students toward successful
completion of the blended learning program. The incumbent will work with
students to assist with balancing between academic support (in conjunction with
virtual and in-person educators) and support advisory activities. The incumbent will also support and assist
with reviewing data and
assisting school administration and faculty
in understanding data in order to
support the generation of effective
responses to the school/students’ needs.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Assists
students in their courses by providing on-site motivation and support;
Works
collaboratively with a team of teachers (both in-person and virtual) to assist
in ensuring that all students in the cohort are on track and successfully
progressing through the program;
Provides
assistance with reviewing data;
including assisting school administration and faculty
in understanding data in order to support the generation of effective responses to the school/students’ needs;
Assists
students with daily assignments and projects to increase understanding;
Assists
with clarifying directions, rubrics and portfolio requirements;
Assists
educators with keeping student records and data up-to-date, including
cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting,
and logging all student and parent contacts;
Provides
support and assistance in the organizing and administrating of state testing,
as directed;
Helps
carry out educational programs developed through the Individualized Education
Plan (IEP) process for special education students;
Maintains
a positive, supportive and engaging learning environment at all times;
Assists
with implementing strategies that encourage student collaboration and teamwork;
Monitors
students’ attendance, participation and academic performance;
Provides
some oversight to the student escalation process to communicate with the Principal
and educators if student is “approaching alarm” or “in alarm” status, based on
escalation metrics;
Contributes
to developing and monitoring individualized action plans for each student in
escalation; including working with students to set goals for getting back on
track and communicating with parents/guardians and school staff;
Supports
school and parent communication and engagement strategies and activities to
increase team effectiveness and support student success; including but not
limited to assisting with workshops on study skills, test taking strategies and
21st century learning skills;
Helps
each student identify and focus on his or her potential and aspirations;
Works
with a team to coordinate and implement social activities and relevant field
trips for students;
Participates
in at least one school committee; and
Performs
other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Ability to motivate and assist students with coursework;
Experience and demonstrated interest in working with youth (both
strivers and strugglers);
Experience working in a school or other educational environment;
High degree of flexibility;
Must possess the ability to work on team projects;
Strong multi-cultural skills;
Strong technology skills;
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
Customer focused approach;
Demonstrated ability to work well in an innovative, fast paced
environment; and
Ability to work evening hours occasionally to support students and
families.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High
School diploma required. A minimum of
three (3) years of previous work experience in a professional environment
required; previous experience working with students in a K-12 environment
preferred.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Educators are expected to report to the school/work location on a scheduled or as needed basis, typically 2-3 days a week. The employee agrees to designate a separate workspace in the alternate work location for the purposes of teleworking and will maintain this area in a safe condition, free from hazards and other dangers to the employee and PGCPS’s equipment.
