POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of
the Director of Pupil Accounting and School Boundaries, the Supervisor - Pupil
Accounting will have the overall responsibility for reviewing, monitoring, and
recommending all aspects of pupil accounting functions and activities. The incumbent in this class will be
responsible for initiating and developing the overall objectives for their
assigned unit. Responsibilities include assessing the needs of the unit,
developing an operational framework for the unit, developing a budget based on
analysis of needs, and implementing the process and procedures for evaluating
programs and personnel in the unit. Special assignments are received through
conferences, written instructions and requests from the Director of Pupil
Accounting and School Boundaries.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Oversees all aspects of the Pupil Accounting
Office;
Oversees student enrollment data system for all
schools;
Prepares budget and staffing plan for the Pupil
Accounting Office;
Manages and supervises staff assigned to the
Pupil Accounting Office;
Provides policy and strategic guidance on
specialty programs (lottery) placement appeals and lottery operations;
Provides oversight on charter school lottery
operations and program refinement;
Provides appropriate enrollment reports required
by the school system, state and federal agencies;
Responds to the general public, parents, schools,
offices, board members and other agencies’ inquiries on procedures and Board
policy regarding pupil accounting functions;
Collaborates with IT-Student Applications on
adjustments to the district’s student information system(s) regarding census,
registration and enrollment information;
Collaborates with IT-Student Applications on
next year enrollment and rollover processes for the district’s student
information system(s);
Chairs the Tuition Waiver Committee and conducts
interviews;
Serves on the Facility Advisory committee; and
Performs
other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Considerable
knowledge of public school administration policies and procedures;
Previous
school-based experience and effective understanding of school issues;
Demonstrated
leadership in guiding diverse groups of people to an agreed plan or solution to
a problem;
Demonstrated
ability to analyze data and provide alternative solutions to problems;
Effective
use of technology – Microsoft Word, excel, PowerPoint, and web-based
applications;
Excellent
written and oral communication skills; and
Effective
human relations skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s
degree from
an accredited college or university in planning, data management,
business administration or a closely related field with a minimum of three
(3) years of experience in school administration policies and procedures,
student registration, and state reporting required. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of
five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in school administration
policies and procedures, student registration, and state reporting may be
considered.
