POSITION SUMMARY:
Under
the direction of the Safety and Security Coordinating Manager, the Supervisor
of Safety and Security Compliance is responsible for overseeing all reporting
and compliance data for the department, as well as overseeing building
surveillance and monitoring. The
incumbent of this position will monitor, track and report on the certification
and training status of new and existing personnel within Safety and Security
Services. The Supervisor of Safety and
Security Compliance will serve as the liaison between internal and external stakeholders
in the reporting and monitoring components of the school system’s diversion
program.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Establishes
short and long-term priorities for the department; monitors operational
programs to measure progress towards reaching objectives effectively and
economically;
Develops,
analyzes and revises administrative procedures and standard operating
procedures related to safety and security services; ensures compliance with
legal regulations;
Designs
and implements appropriate professional development and training sessions;
creates certification schedules for department personnel;
Develops
and maintains databases to track and monitor the certification and training
status of department personnel and compiles related reports; oversees staff
participation and program completion;
Identifies
developmental training programs for employees and prepares training schedules;
coordinates activities related to periodic updates of training materials and
related documents/forms;
Prepares
compliance reports using data collection, analysis and interpretation, as well
as narrative summaries; ensures monitoring and tracking of all projects and
overseeing audits;
Serves as
the point of contact for safety and security compliance matters and provides
related consultation or expert advice; acts as a representative of the
department with external agencies;
Oversees
the effective operation of the monitoring system and building surveillance
functions, as well as the coordination of tasks required to ensure proper
implementation and operation;
Serves as
the liaison between internal and external stakeholders in the reporting and
monitoring components of the school system’s diversion program; and
Performs
other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Have a
working knowledge of local, state and federal laws, policies and procedures
related to school safety and security;
Strong
analytical skills that inform problem solving and decision making capacity;
Highly
proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with particular strength in Excel;
Ability
to plan, supervise and review the work of others in a manner conducive to
efficient operations;
Ability
to collect, retrieve, and organize data in a variety of forms; familiarity with
both qualitative and quantitative data collection;
Must
have exceptional organizational skills;
Must be
results oriented with a strong sense of initiative and urgency;
Must
have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability
to work effectively both independently as a team member in order to move toward
the completion of goals; and
Demonstrated oral and written
communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of high school diploma
or GED with considerable experience in data analysis, monitoring and compliance
or a closely related field required; Bachelor's degree from an accredited
college or university preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of related
experience required; previous experience in a public school system preferred.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Maryland
State Police Commission preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees
and provides guidance to assigned personnel.
