POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the direction of the Director, the Supervisor is responsible for the effective daily management and administration of the Telephone and Wiring Services office. The Supervisor will be responsible for planning and managing the budget, organizing work schedules, assigning tasks, evaluating projects and supervising and evaluating both support and professional employees assigned to the office. Work is performed with considerable latitude for independent decision making in meeting assigned responsibilities.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Managing the physical and human resources of the office effectively;

Planning and managing the budget in consultation with the Director;

Support the ERATE program compliance efforts and billing tracking as directed by the Director and CIO.

Supervision and evaluation of supporting and professional employees assigned to the offices;

Organizing work schedules, assigning tasks and evaluating projects;

Providing creative and innovative leadership and vision in fulfilling the mission of the department;

Planning and organizing staff meetings, staff development, training, in-service activities, and related events in consultation with the Director.

Interfacing with vendors and preparing purchase orders, bids, requests for information and related activities;

Managing contracts, monitoring consultants and coordinating purchases;

Dealing effectively with a wide range of clients including upper level management, board members, principals, supervisors, teachers and others;

Providing in-house consulting services related to a wide variety of current and emerging information technologies;

Coordinating services which are aligned to the requirements of both schools and offices;

Collecting and analyzing input from focus groups, surveys, questionnaires, anecdotal inquiries, and direct telephone solicitation to determine the needs of clients as well as their level of satisfaction with services;

Serving as a member of the departments Research and Development Team;

Establishing and assessing the annual goals of the office in consultation with the Director; and

Performing other duties as directed by the Director or CIO.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Thorough knowledge of telecommunications systems, instructional, business and administrative management systems.

Demonstrated ability in the use of emerging technologies including information age telecommunications and Internet skills;

Ability to work cooperatively as a team;

Effective management and administrative skills; effective human relations skills; and

Excellent oral and written communications skills; and staff development and administrative experience.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from and accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Technologies or equivalent work experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

Oversees and supervises staff of an assigned office within the department.
