POSITION SUMMARY:
The Supervisor – Research and
Evaluation is responsible for organizing and implementing the research and
evaluation program. The incumbent in
this position will work with the Director – Testing, Research and Evaluation
and the Office of Teaching and Learning to initiate and develop the overall
objectives for the research and evaluation program. Responsibilities include assessing the needs
of the program and developing an operational framework and workflow. The
Supervisor will evaluate programs and personnel in the office and make
recommendations for improvement. Special
assignments are received through conferences, written instructions, and
requests from the Director – Testing, Research and Evaluation or from the
Office of Teaching and Learning.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Organizes and implements the systemic
research and evaluation program; performs the evaluation of various
instructional programs as directed from the Director – Testing, Research and Evaluation
or the Office of Teaching and Learning;
Supervises the operation and workflow of
the Office of Research and Evaluation in terms of shifting resources as needed,
within the office, to meet the objectives of the work plan and to ensure that
deadlines are met;
Plans, organizes and develops
standardization and evaluates organizational efforts and procedures to ensure
strategic utilization of resources;
Supervises office staff members by
providing directions, guidelines and assigning work appropriately;
Monitors assignments for quality,
efficiencies, and timeliness, and tracks ongoing management analysis metrics to
determine if goals are being met and/or initiation of remedial actions are
necessary;
Carries out supervisory responsibilities
in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws which include
interviewing, hiring, professional development, staff supervision, complaint
resolution, and problem solving;
Coordinates with the Director and other
staff members as needed; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials, and members of
diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds;
Knowledge of methods and techniques for fact-finding, analysis and
resolution of complex issues, and the ability to develop concrete action plans
for resolution;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly,
concisely and with technical accuracy; and
Computer proficiency with primary emphasis on office organization tools
(Internet/Intranet, e-mail, task tracking, and calendar functions), spreadsheets,
databases, and word processing (Microsoft Office product suite), and the Oracle
database system is highly preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally
accredited college or university in Measurement, Education, or a closely
related field required; minimum of five (5) years demonstrated supervisory
experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
