POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction
of the Instructional Supervisor, the Teacher Coordinator is responsible for
assisting in the monitoring, management and implementation of Experiential
Learning & Career Development programs (that may include programs such as
College, Career, Research & Development; Careers in Cosmetology; and etc.).
The Teacher Coordinator assists in the development
of aligned curricula and professional development opportunities for school
Work-Based Learning Coordinators. The Teacher Coordinator assists in developing
experiential learning opportunities with business partners, community members
and post secondary institutions for student extended learning.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Coordinates with work-based learning coordinators and
school administrators for recruitment efforts;
Enroll, orient and screen students to participate in
school year internships and/or work experiences;
Assists in evaluating instructional materials, textbooks,
software and industry materials and equipment;
Coordinates the acquisition, delivery and inventory of
materials of instruction, resources, and equipment for program support and
improvement;
Facilitates experiential learning opportunities with
business partners, community members and work-based learning coordinators for
student engagement;
Coordinates the delivery of professional workshop with
business and community partners to assist students connect their academic
learning and career planning with real life experience;
Develops opportunities involving community
based-organizations and competitions in schools for career development;
Oversees industry-based assessments and certification
testing;
Maintains statistical data on system assessments,
completions and certifications to inform program decisions;
Makes presentations within and outside of the school
system; and
Assists in other duties as assigned by the
Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Ability to monitory the implementation of the curricula and collect
feedback to support continuous program improvements;
Knowledge of current trends in careers and special emphasis on
curriculum, assessment and career experiences;
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with classroom teachers,
instructional specialist and professional organizations in providing rigorous
academic experiences for all students;
Maintains accurate financial, inventory, and student data records;
Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage teams;
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to present ideas in business friendly or user friendly language;
Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
Strong instructional and facilitator skills;
Experience in collaborative planning and providing professional
development;
Demonstrated strong leadership and administrative competency; and
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s
degree in applicable field; experience working in a vocational education
setting; five (5) years teaching in academic or vocational education required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Holds or is
eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate in Secondary Education,
issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
