POSITION SUMMARY:
Under
the direction of the IT Supervisor of Technology Support Services, the
Technology Project Manager will oversee the Division of Information
Technology’s Technology Distribution Center (TDC).
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Provides
overall leadership and management of IT project resources, including all
project stakeholders and third party resources;
Prepares
project scope and develops project plans, defines resource loading, skill
requirements, milestones, and metrics per standard methods and practices;
Consults
with school system divisions on business requirements and specifications for
technology acquisition and distribution;
Develops
detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status
reports;
Provides
technical and analytical guidance to project teams focused on technology
hardware and software;
Recommends
and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems;
Ensures
adherence to quality standards and specifications;
Ensures
the IT projects are implemented according to defined requirements;
Interacts
and maintains positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders;
Prepares
and reports accurate project status and related data to management;
Ensures
detailed documentation and records of project implementations, including all
changes to deliverables, resources and schedules;
Provides
direction for deployment of technology equipment and change management
activities;
Provides
leadership in developing skills and breadth of product knowledge of technology
distribution center team members. Acts as a mentor to team members, and provides
constructive feedback on their performance on a regular basis and formally
during the performance evaluation periods;
Maintains
positive and productive relationships with stakeholders and team members;
Exercises
experienced judgment to plan and accomplish goals;
Manages
outsourced work, consultants, vendors and relationships; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Excellent
project planning, budgeting, scheduling and resource management skills;
Effective
time management, documentation and organizational skills;
Experience
managing and/or directing an Information Technology team;
Good
understanding and knowledge of implementation methodology or integration
methodology;
Understanding
of current technology hardware and software specifications for K-12 sector;
Strong
leadership skills preferred;
Experience
dealing with third party vendors;
Excellent
written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
Ability
to present ideas in a business friendly or user friendly language;
Highly
self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;
Ability
to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;
Extensive
experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; and
Proficiency
with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and MS Project.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with three (3) to four (4) years project management experience and/or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Oversees the IT Project Management Office staff and
coordinates the activities of third-party resources.
