POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under direct supervision in the Department of Testing, Core Service One - Test Administration, learns, practices, and performs technical work necessary to carry out the updates and computer files related to test administration, student performance, and record keeping required for graduation standards and reports required by local, state, and federal authorities. The incumbent in this class performs duties related to the updates and maintenance of computer files. This includes data entry, storage and retrieval, file management, and production and distribution of reports. Duties also require response to ad hoc requests and verification of accuracy of data. Must be able to communicate and work with coworkers, schools, and offices within Prince George’s County Public Schools. In addition, the incumbent must be able to assist people in schools and offices on how to request data and how to use various computer systems to retrieve data on their own.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Receive, organize, store, and distribute documents required for graduation from high school, e.g. Academic Validation Program projects;

Verify and enter data concerning graduation standards into computer files;

Search computer files to provide information to school-based and office-based personnel in Prince George's County Public Schools;

Contact registrars and counselors in other school districts to obtain data for entry into computer files;

Work with registrars, counselors, and school test coordinators in Prince George's County Public Schools to obtain and verify data related to graduation standards;

Assist testing specialists in the logistics of administering state and county-mandated assessments; and

Score tests via scanner or hand score troublesome answer sheets to produce scale scores, percentile ranks, and/or standard scores.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Good knowledge of data base and computer file structure;

Demonstrate competency using MS Software and Windows operating system;

Experience in organizing and maintaining the storage of testing materials in accordance with both Prince George's County Public Schools and Maryland State Department of Education requirements;

Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative in carrying out program duties and responsibilities;

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with registrars, school counselors, and test coordinators;

Ability to work cooperatively with other school system employees; and

Good attention to detail and follow through with procedures to ensure high level of accuracy in the entry, storage, and retrieval of data.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

High school diploma supplemented by either additional education or appropriate experience in data entry, storage, and retrieval.
