POSITION SUMMARY:
The
Warehouse Driver Helper performs a variety of manual tasks in support of the
central supply system.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Loading
and unloading supplies, materials and equipment;
Moving
property into and out of storage areas by hand, hand truck or dolly;
Sorting,
stacking, palletizing, packing and unpacking various items as required;
Moving
and arranging furniture, file cabinets, and other equipment;
Using
hand tools and other equipment to open or file cabinets;
Assisting
with loading and unloading delivery trucks;
Collecting
refuse;
Sweeping
and cleaning work areas;
Driving
trucks on relief or intermittent basis; and
Assisting
with receiving, order filling and other related activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Good
knowledge of a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual task;
Willingness
to perform routine manual work;
Ability
to lift heavy articles;
Ability
to understand oral and written instructions;
Excellent
stamina and physical condition;
Experience
in performing heavy manual labor; and
Ability to keep accurate records and report
performance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a standard grade
school course preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and
training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland
Motor Vehicle Operator’s license, at the time of appointment; and a driving
record indicating five (5) or fewer current points, which no more than three
(3) shall have accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while
operating a Board of Education vehicle (see Prince Georges County Public
Schools’ Bulletin P-1-88 dated July 21, 1987).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
