The mission of the Department of Capital Programs is to deliver safe and inviting learning environments that are fully supportive of modern education and are optimally sized and utilized to promote academic success.                                                                                                                                      


The
Department of Capital Programs is organized into four areas of responsibility: Planning and Design; Project Management; Fiscal Management; and Construction Procurement.
  • The Planning and Design Office is responsible for the long-range vision to provide the students of Prince George's County with the fully modernized and appropriately sized educational facilities they deserve. This office produces the Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP) and the five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to address current & future facility needs and ensures all capital projects are optimally designed to enhance academic performance.
  • The Project Management Office manages all phases of delivery for the new schools, additions to existing schools, minor renovations and systemic upgrades/replacements included in the annual CIP.
  • The Fiscal Management Office is tasked with all aspects of responsibly managing the expenditure of approximately $160M in public dollars annually. 
  • The Construction Procurement Office is responsible for coordinating and issuing solicitations for approved CIP construction and renovation projects.

The Office of Alternative Construction Fiancing (ACF) is responsible for the construction of new schools, financing through a collaborative public-private partnership (P3)
