POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Director of Specialty Programs and the Arts, the Coordinating Manager will be responsible for designing, supervising, monitoring and implementing the systemic Creative Arts program. The incumbent of this position will initiate and develop the overall objectives for the program to include articulating the school system’s mission, goals, accomplishments, needs and strategies as it relates to PreK - 12 Creative Arts programs. This will include guiding, evaluating, assisting and supporting the supervisors with program proficiency, personal and interpersonal relationships with stakeholders, and program branding and management. Responsibilities will also include reviewing and understanding curriculum writing and development, professional development and monitoring of school based course implementation. Special assignments are received through conferences, written instructions and requests from the Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with the specialty and arts
program supervisors and specialists on all stakeholder professional development
needs, and the implementation of all Prek – 12 programs; Facilitates an innovative leadership
approach to program growth and improvement; Coordinates and implements a continuous
evaluation cycle of various instructional programs; Represents specialty programs and the
arts at meetings and conferences as requested to give and receive information
along with establishing collaborative relationships with other offices and
agencies in Prince Georges County Public Schools, the Maryland State Department
of Education (MSDE), as well as national and international agencies that
support the mission of the department; Writes and disseminates internal and
external communication as needed and analyzes data to monitor student and
school performance to inform and direct schools, as well as system wide program
improvement; Maintains strict fiscal accountability
through the review of financial documents and iProcurement requests for
supervisors, the management of internal budgets and the securing of budgets and
grants that will benefit the initiatives and programs offered by the department; Participates in the selection and
evaluation process for department staff; provides the necessary administrative
and supervisory functions for appropriate leadership of the department staff; Collects and utilizes data to inform
departmental decisions and monitors plans for interventions and adjustments;
and Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Thorough knowledge of the specialty and
arts programs in PGCPS; Thorough knowledge of educational
theory, research-based best practices, national standards, and Maryland College
and Career Ready Standards; Knowledge of school improvement planning
process; Knowledge of employee evaluation
requirements; Knowledge of innovative and creative
teaching with demonstrated ability to conceptualize ideas and lead and evaluate
large projects; Excellent interpersonal skills built on
communication and collaboration; Possess excellent writing, project
management, computer and technology skills necessary for producing comprehensive
reports and making presentations; Ability to support the department's
vision and the systemic Theory of Change, promote open communication, and
collaborative problem-based best practices; Ability to support the leadership
development of staff; to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a complex
school system; and support programming PreK-12; Ability to work with other school
systems and secondary education institutes to support innovation in
programming; Ability to collect, analyze and use data
to plan for reform across all content areas; Ability to use systemic thinking to
establish clear goals for the development of curriculum, instruction and
programs that will strengthen rigorous literacy instruction district-wide; and Ability to plan alignment of literacy
outcomes with the systemic outcomes.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in curriculum and instruction, administration or a closely related field required. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience and two (2) years of administrator experience required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrator I endorsement required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees and provides guidance and direction to the unit staff.
