Senior Spotlight: Eleanor Roosevelt High School Senior Lindsay Blocker

Eleanor Roosevelt High School senior Lindsay Blocker is not waiting for high school graduation to begin pursuing her dreams.

At Roosevelt, her course load includes Advance Placement (AP) courses in Computer Science, Music Theory, Calculus AB, US Government and Politics and English Language and Composition. In the classroom, she’s a triple threat: 4.37 GPA, a 1580 on the SAT and scores of 4 and 5 on AP exams.

Beyond high school, Lyndsay hopes to pursue a career promoting the ethical use of technology by focusing on public policy and artificial intelligence — and she is well on her way!

While attending the University of Maryland College Park’s Artificial Intelligence Program, she mastered AI concepts through Python programming and Jupyter notebooks. And during a Harvard University Pre-College program she studied the history of digital media and analyzed the mass effects of technology on society.

Lyndsay is a member of the National Science and Spanish Honor Societies, Varsity Lacrosse team and media team at her church. She loves music and has had the opportunity to showcase her talent in competitions including the NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics regional competition, where she earned a gold medal in the classical instrument category.
