    Important Measles Update!

Currently there is a surge of measles cases in the United States, including five cases in Maryland. We are sharing this important health notification for the protection of your children, your family and the PGCPS community.

Measles is a disease which causes fever, cough, runny nose, eye irritation and a rash. It can cause more serious problems such as lung, ear and brain infections, and in rare cases, death.

It is extremely contagious and can live in the air for several hours in a location where an infected person has been. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect your child from measles. Please review your child's shot record to ensure they are up to date with required immunizations. >>Download an informational flyer about measles from the Center for Disease Control
