Pathways in Technology Early College High School: P-TECH

The schools create a seamless program for students to acquire the academic, technical, and workplace skills and knowledge that employers need.

What is P-TECH?

Through the Pathways in Technology Early College High School, or P-TECH, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) students can complete both a 4-year high school diploma and a 2-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in six years or less at no cost. Students begin college level work by 10th grade for dual credit.

Health Information Management

The Health Information Management pathway integrates the disciplines of medicine, computer technology, and business management. Graduates are prepared to perform technical and supervisory duties in organizing, analyzing, and generating health data for reimbursement, planning, quality improvement, research, and the legal issues surrounding health information. Employment opportunities exist in a broad range of settings, such as hospitals, home health care, nursing homes, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), physicians’ offices, consulting, computer software companies, and government agencies.

Hospitality Services Management

The Hospitality Services Management pathway is the managerial and administrative science of overseeing a hospitality organization. A degree in service management introduces students to the vital skills and competencies required for a successful career in a hospitality-based organization, such as a hotel or resort, restaurants and food service, meetings and conventions, special events, tourism, and entrepreneurship. Graduates go on to work in the hospitality, travel, or restaurant sectors.

Earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree along with your High School Diploma

P-TECH graduates complete all of the required course work to earn a high school diploma and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree. Students can take up to six years to complete the program, but may finish in as few as four years. In addition to the degrees, students earn industry certifications in their chosen field of study.
