Mornings with Monica: Education Initiatives - POSTPONED
POSTPONED - The Office of Community Partnerships will be hosting the next Mornings with Monica event at Carolina Kitchen in Hyattsville, MD on Monday, March 16. Join Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Monica Goldson for updates on school system initiatives. Share your ideas and questions with PGCPS leadership to support our school communities. This event is open to the public ~ parents/families, community members, non-profit organizations, businesses and county leaders are all welcome to attend!

First Baptist Church of Glenarden: MLK Day of Service
The Office of Community Partnerships partnered with First Baptist Church of Glenarden to host the second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at 13 of their adopted schools on Monday, January 20. Featured schools were visited by Senior Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr., First Lady Trina Jenkins, and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks! More than 600 volunteers participated to make a difference in our school communities, honoring the legacy of Dr. King by completing numerous service projects at each school.

DECEMBER 2019
Keller Williams Dictionary Distribution
The Office of Community Partnerships partnered with Keller Williams Preferred Properties to provide free dictionaries to 68 schools across Prince George's County. KWPP agents sponsored the dictionaries and visited each school on Wednesday, December 11, engaging third graders with this "Gift of Knowledge" to use at home and for years to come! More than 5,000 students received a new dictionary in English or Spanish to help them become confident writers, active readers, and creative thinkers.

NOVEMBER 2019
Students Receive New Shoes
The Office of Community Partnerships partnered with Soles4Souls and Skechers to host a great event at Port Towns Elementary School on Tuesday, November 12 with PGCPS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Monica Goldson. More than 900 students received a new pair of BOBS Skechers shoes and other items, along with exploring hands-on arts integration decorating of their shoes. DSW also provided a team of volunteers to assist with this event.

Pohanka Reading Celebration
The Office of Community Partnerships partnered with First Book and Pohanka Automotive Group to host a Reading Celebration event at their adopted school, John H. Bayne Elementary on Thursday, November 21 with special guest, Geoff Pohanka (President). Pohanka volunteers read books in each classroom (Pre-K through 5th grade), promoting literacy and reading awareness! More than 425 students received a new book to take home and Pohanka is also sponsoring additional books for the school's media center.

Inaugural Community Partners Reception
The Office of Community Partnerships hosted the PGCPS Inaugural Community Partners Reception on Thursday, October 31 with PGCPS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Monica Goldson to celebrate organizations in our Adopt-A-School Program and Partners in Education Program, along with systemic sponsors. We honored each partner's outstanding support of our 206 school communities with Principals, PGCPS Leadership, Board of Education Members, and Elected Officials. Thank you for partnering with Prince George's County Public Schools!

Mornings with Monica: Back to School
The Office of Community Partnerships partnered with Starbucks and Brandywine Crossing to host a wonderful back to school Mornings with Monica welcome event in Brandywine, MD on Monday, September 23 with PGCPS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Monica Goldson. Parents, community members, and business leaders had the opportunity to hear about the new school year, share appreciation, and discuss their concerns or ideas with PGCPS Leadership.

9th Annual Back to School Block Party
The Office of Community Partnerships hosted an amazing Back to School Block Party event for more than 5,000 students, parents/families and community members! This special annual event kicked off with remarks from PGCPS CEO, Dr. Monica Goldson and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks to welcome the community. Event attendees enjoyed a fun-filled day with guest singer Raheem DeVaughn, student performances, family-fun amusement areas and community resources, along with distribution of book bags for elementary, middle, and high school students!
