Entrance into a prekindergarten program is determined by age, income and school eligibility.
Step 1: Eligibility
Families may apply for prekindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year if your child is four years old by September 1, 2020 and meets any of the following criteria:
- meets the income eligibility guidelines
- registered with the McKinney Vento Program (homeless)
- demonstrates developmental delays or is at risk for developmental delays as identified by an IEP placement
*Over-income families will be placed on a waitlist and considered for a seat after Tuesday, September 8, 2020 based on space availability.
Step 2: Determine which sites are available according to household income (both parents, if applicable) and school eligibility (space and location).

Step 3: Register
Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) online registration for the 2020-21 school year begins Monday, June 1st starting with Early Childhood Programs. Parents/Guardians may apply for Prekindergarten using the following link: pgcpsmdc.scriborder.com.
Early Entrance into Prekindergarten
A parent/guardian may make a request for early entrance into prekindergarten if the child turns four (4) years of age between September 2 and October 15, of the school year for which they are requesting early entrance.
A parent/guardian must apply for early entrance into prekindergarten at their boundary prekindergarten site.
**Families must qualify for the prekindergarten program before applying for early entrance.**
No applications for early entrance will be accepted after June 26th given school building closings due to COVID-19.
Early Entrance to Prekindergarten applications will be placed on hold until after October 15th and considered based on space availability at your boundary school only.
