TALENTED AND GIFTED STUDENT PROGRAM Purpose: To establish procedures for administering, implementing and evaluating the Prince George's County Public Schools program fro Talented and Gifted education. LOTTERY AND AUDITION ADMINISTRATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES Purpose: The purpose of this procedure is to provide a comprehensive framework for the operation of the Prince George's County Public Schools lottery and audition selection process. The primary purpose of the lottery and audition process is to provide an equitable and efficient means of providing access to specialty programs where the number of applicants potentially exceeds the available seats in the program. This procedure is created to ensure equal access and equity for acceptance into these programs. At the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer this administrative procedure may be applied to other programs. |

GENERAL PROCEDURES PERTAINING TO PROMOTION, RETENTION AND ACCELERATION OF STUDENTS Purpose: Promotion and retention of students within Prince George's County Schools shall be based upon the degree of success the individual student has achieved in completing the educational program designated to met his/her needs. Promotion and retention will be considered annually in terms of the best placement of an individual student. Promotion is effected when the student has demonstrated appropriate levels of achievement and would benefit from the curriculum designed for the next grade level. |
