POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the School Accounting Fund (SAF) Support Specialist serves as the point person for SchoolFunds Online (SFO accounting system) in place in PGCPS schools and related locations.  The SAF Support Specialist provides training and Help Desk support for the software, ensures monthly reporting by schools is timely and accurate, and follows up on corrective action plans of schools as a result of internal audits. Technical assistance to school accounting secretaries, principals, accountants and other SFO users is required.  Employees in this class are given general instructions on assignments and expected to bring jobs to conclusion with minimal supervision.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Participates in implementing SchoolFunds Online at PGCPS schools and institutions;

Responds to Help Desk requests related to use of SFO;

Develops and documents Help Desk problem resolution procedures and validates software problems reported by users;

Conducts SFO training for personnel, including, bookkeepers and principals, as well as refresher training as required on site at schools or during group seminars;

Assists in periodic updating the School Accounting Manual and the SFO User Manual, as needed;

Works to fill in gaps at schools during temporary absences of school accounting secretaries; 

Serves on interview panels for school accounting secretary and temporary bookkeeper positions, as required;

Reviews and validates audit plans;

Conducts follow-up meetings, as necessary, with principals, bookkeepers and other involved staff, concerning audit supplied corrective action plans pertaining to their location;

Performs critical problem resolution while providing rapid response capability and related work as required; and

Other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college with major coursework in accounting, business administration or a related field and four (4) years of reasonable experience in bookkeeping and student activity fund accounting, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
